Liverpool Kick Off Work On Expanding Stadium Capacity

Liverpool are reportedly working on plans to make their capacity bigger than what it is currently and are understood to be making consultations with the locals on their plans.

Anfield Stadium has a seating capacity of 54, 074 and by the time the club management finished with the on-going developmental work, the capacity would reach 60,000.

As the Champions League title holders, the club deemed an expansion is necessary to allow for more activities in the vicinity and give football fans a worthy facility to enjoy the sport.

"The consultation events are designed for the local residents, businesses, and fans to learn more," the club said in a statement. "Which would allow more fans to watch some of Europe's best football in a world-class facility."

Reds are racing ahead of the Premier League defending champions Manchester City to lead the table by 34 points in a bid to clinch the title for the first time since 1989/90.
