Kawhi Leonard Leads L.A Clippers To Beat Former Team, Toronto Raptors
Kawhi Leonard did not spare his former team, Toronto Raptors, from getting beat and his former teammates especially Siakam Pascal could not stop him from leading Los Angeles Clippers to take a 98-88 win at the Staples Center.
Raptors ended Los Angeles Lakers' winning run that had lasted through seven games in a 113-104 victory and that extended their dominance to ten consecutive games, but Leonard and Lou Williams waded them off from doing the same to Clippers and won their first in three games against the Canadian side and NBA Championship defenders on Monday night.
Clippers had three of its players finishing with double-double streak whilst Lou completed 7-15 shots and knocked down 2-6 from three-point range to lead the standouts by 21 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Leonard missed out on triple-double by just an assist to finish with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.
Clippers were faced an all-out offensive from Raptors right from the start of the game led by Siakam and that fierce contest for the win lasted until the fourth quarter when Clippers regained the lead and began to push for the victory. With 18 seconds remaining, JaMychal Green made a dunk on Matt Thomas to give Clippers a 10-point lead to win the game.
"It's over now," Leonard he told ESPN on leading his new team to beat his former team he won the NBA Championship with last season. "I had a great time there. But it's the next chapter now."
"I can't live in the past or just be so excited that I still won [championship]. I'm with a different team and a different unit, and they want to have the same feeling, and I do as well. I'm a Clipper right now."
Leonard's former teammate, Siakam led Raptors with a double-double, 16 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists and following was Norman Powell with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
Clippers' Montrezl Harrell also finished with a double-double, 14 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists followed Patrick Patterson finished with 12 points and two rebounds with an assist. JayMachal Green joined the double-double streak with 10 points and 12 rebounds with an assist.
