Kanye West's New Album 'Jesus Is King' Takes No. 1 Spot On Billboard Chart
'Jesus Is King' is not the traditional hip-hop song you would expect from a Grammy award-winning artist and despite its being an outrightly religious album, it is a huge success for Kanye West.
The rapper-turned-fashion designer's ninth album notched at the number spot on the Billboard chart, making it his ninth successive set to peak at the spot on debut - Ye ties with Eminem on the longest no. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 album chart.
Besides that, all the 11 songs on the set debut on the Billboard 100 chart. Mind you, the set being religious and Ye presently running a weekly religious gather in Malibu, technically made him ruled out any use of vulgar words because he claimed those words put people behind bars.
However, everyone has an opinion on their take on the use of words in their lyrics. That aside, 'Jesus Is King' reportedly recorded 196.9 million on-demand streams to become the rapper's biggest streaming week ever.
In addition, it also sold well over 100,000 copies in the first week to be the second in largest sales week after Post Malone's 'Hollywood's Bleeding'.
