Kanye West Disagrees With Forbes, Claims He Is A "Billionaire"
If there is another rapper who is a self-acclaimed billionaire and not according to Forbes, it will be Kanye West and he has evidence to justify his new status, billionaire.
The rapper-turned-fashion designer recently announced he has changed his name to 'Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West' last week, but there seemed to be a reason for that according to him and it has to do with not being acknowledged as hip hop's new billionaire.
"When I did Forbes, I showed them a $890 million receipt," he said. " They still didn't say 'billionaire. When people say it's crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might really change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West until y'all understand exactly what it is."
Well, the magazine's senior editor of media and entertainment, Zack O' Malley Greenburg, did not dispute having a knowledge of the acclaim receipt but stated that the estimation was done based on what his wealth was worth in spring - the period when the magazine announces the list of new ankings.
Zack recalled suggesting that Kanye should do what his music mentor Jay-Z and his sister-in-law, Kylie Jenner, did by joining NBA legends to boost his ranking but he refused.
He recalled Ye saying, "We've yet to see all of the beauty that would be manifested through this partnership [that is his Yeezy partnership with Adidas]. We've only experienced a small glimmer of light."
According to Forbes, Kanye's revenue comes mostly from his Yeezy brand and it is projected that it will make a whopping $1.5 billion in sales by the end of the year. That anticipated performance by his footwear and clothing might potentially increase his net-worth.
