Jurgen Klopp Gives Own Position On Kylian Mbappe's Rumoured Move To Liverpool
The expectation that Kylian Mbappe will be moving to Liverpool in January window transfer might not materialize as Jurgen Klopp dismissed any interest in the striker as there is "no chance" for him because of the cost of signing him to the club.
Mbappe is no doubt an attractive player to any top-flight clubs in Europe and was once urged to leave his club, Paris Saint-Germain, and move to either Premier League or Spanish La Liga by former Liverpool and Real Madrid player, Fernando Morientes.
Not long after Morientes' advice to the Frenchman, it was speculated that Real Madrid were considering to launch a £240 million bid for him and Barcelona later joined the race after their plan to resign Neymar Jr. from PSG failed. In the end, the 20-year-old did not move to either of the two clubs.
"Buying this caliber of player is difficult. I don't see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG. I don't see any club, that is how it is," Klopp said. "And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that."
Liverpool are currently in the top spot of the Premier League table in a bid to end their league title-drought since 1989/90. They were narrowly beaten to the league title by Manchester City last season during which they won the Champions League title in second successive final appearance.
Explaining reasons Reds are not in pursuit of Mbappe, Klopp went to say, "There are not a lot of reasons not to sign him. What a player he is, but it is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance."
