Jose Mourinho Cheers Unai Emery Up With Warmth Message

Jose Mourinho has given his support to former manager Unai Emery whose reign at Arsenal came to its eventual end after leading the team to lose 2-1 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League group stage match.

Mind you, he had been booed off the pitch by the club's fans for the team's performance but found his way to their heart with a warmth message calling out for the support. Even now that he has been axed, he yet remained connected to the club, describing his term as "an honour" being former manager Arsene Wenger's successor in his goodbye message.

The 52-year-old who returned to management at Tottenham Hotspur after nearly a year of redundancy recalled the time his father was sacked as a football team manager and his last experience of being sacked Manchester United where he reigned for just 19 months.

"I felt as a child when my dad was sacked as a manager. I felt myself when I'm sacked previously. There is no one manager that is sacked that I'm happy with, I always feel the deja vu situation," Mourinho said at a press conference on Friday.

Unai Emery led Arsenal to finish as runners-up of the 2018/19 Europa League after losing 4-1 to Chelsea in the final

"I am sad for it but that's life. Unai is not happy at Arsenal obviously but a fantastic coach with proven records. Time to have a little bit of rest and another club will come for him and his career will be back on track. So, dramas. Keep going and you will get another club."

Upon the dismissal of Unai, there were suspicions that Mourinho had contact with Arsenal with the hope of replacing the ousted manager before he signed to a deal with Spurs after Mauricio Pochettino was sacked. However, he dismissed having any connections with the club as untrue.

"When it was written that I was in a meeting with Mr. Sanllehi, it was not true," he said. "I look forward to playing Arsenal. I want to play against Arsenal. I know what it means for our fans."
