Bayern Munich Rule Out Arsene Wenger Of Consideration For Club New Manager

Arsene Wenger has been ruled out of becoming Bayern Munich's replacement for ousted manager Niko Kovac after a brief discussion with the club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on Wednesday.

Kovac's dismissal was following the club's massive 5-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday and management could no longer deal with the team's poor performance that has seen the club dropped to the fourth position in the Bundesliga league table.

Speaking to beIN Sport as an analyst ahead of Bayern's 2-0 win over Olympiakos on Wednesday, the former Arsenal FC manager did not deny having interest in the German club but did not confirm having any discussion with club.

"I never refused to talk to Bayern Munich because I know these people who lead the club for 30 years," he said when asked about the speculation of his links to the Bundesliga defending champions.

After establishing his interest in the club and he dismissed having any discussions with the club as he said, "We have not talked to each other and I don't know [if that will happen very soon]."

That position has changed as Sky Sports revealed that the 70-year-old and the club's chief executive, Karl-Heinz, later had a phone conversation on Wednesday and the club concluded to drop the Frenchman out of the race to the club's new manager.

Wenger led Arsenal for 22 years and won 17 silverware - three Premier League, seven FA, and seven EFL Cup - during his reign before stepping down to be replaced by Unai Emery in 2018.
