Barcelona Sporting Director Says Neymar Remains "An Option" For Club
Barcelona are still hopeful of Neymar Jr's return to the club and it sporting director Eric Abidal reveals the Brazilian remains a player that is "always an option" in the club's consideration.
Neymar left the club for Paris Saint Germain in a record-breaking deal in 2017 and despite leading the side to win the league title back-to-back, it has not been a pleasant spell for the striker and has fallen out of favour with the club.
Last summer was meant to be his late at the club, but every effort made to scoop him out by Barcelona was meant by a brick wall from the French side which maintained that he will only leave unless for a suitable offer.
Abidal told Mundo Deportivo in an interview that, "A top player, who has a Barca philosophy and who is performing at a high level, will always be an option."
Making a move the 27-year-old might not be possible now according to Abidal stating that the season is still young and that might also come at the cost of breaching the FFP regular if attempted. Nevertheless, he revealed that Nou camp still nurse an interest for the player, if not "option number 1 but it can be a clear option."
Barcelona's judgment of replacing him with Coutinho Philippe did not work out and sold the former Liverpool attacking midfielder to Bayern Munich in summer.
