Arsene Wenger Poles For Managerial Role At Bayern Munich

Arsene Wenger might soon return to management following speculations of his links to Bayern Munich which presently are in search of a new manager to replace Niko Kovac.

Bayern suffered an embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt over the weekend and that led to the management announcing the dismissal of their former manager, Niko, on Sunday and replaced him with his assistant Han Flick as the interim manager.

A couple of managers from top-flight clubs - Thomas Tuchel (PSG), Erik ten Hag (Ajax) and Ralf Rangnick - have been shortlisted for the job but none of them appeared to be interested in accepting their offer. Wenger, however, poles for the job and did not deny his interested in the role, which might set off his return to football.

"Of course. Coaching was my whole life until now," he said when asked about his interest in the Bundesliga side. "Everybody who has coached will tell you the same."

The 70-year-old also told beIN Sports that he really missed the sport in terms of "preparing the team for a game and getting satisfaction and shared emotion" like any manager like him would.

Admitting his links to Bayern, he added, "So of course, yes. I was responsible from 33 years of age and I coached until 69 without interruption. And at a top-level. It's 36 years without stopping. Even if I miss it, to get out of that pressure for a year was not too bad for me."

Wenger coached Arsenal for 22 years before he stepped down in 2018 to be replaced by Unai Emery. During his reign, he led the club to win three Premier League titles, seven FA Cup and seven Community Shield.
