Tyler Perry Launches Own Major Film Studios
Tyler Perry is a well-known personality in the film industry as an actor, producer, and director but that has now been taken to another level with the launching of his own major film studios on Monday.
Named after the 50-year-old as Tyler Perry Studios, it becomes the first-ever own by an African-American and it sits on a massive 330-acre on an old Confederation Army base in Atlanta, Georgia.
Present at the opening ceremony of the studios were high-profiled personalities such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, John Lewis, Oprah Wilfried, Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce, Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Ava Marie Duvernay, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and many other.
"This is a historic night in cinema because what he has done nobody has done before," Spike Lee told BET. It is understood the studios which has 12 sound stages are named after iconic figures in the industry such as Spike Lee, Halle Berry and so on.
In an interview with Essence, Tyler who made his directorial debut with Madea's Family Reunion said, "It feels like encouragement, it feels like gratitude. But more than anything, I hope it becomes, for everybody else who is ever dreaming and hoping, they can do it."
