Tiger Woods Wins 82nd PGA Tour, Equals Record Set by Sam Sead

Tiger Woods has equaled the previous record of 82 wins set for PGA Tour by his compatriot Sam Sead at the Zozo Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

This will be the 15-time major champion's second title of the season since ending his major tournament title-drought since 2008 in Augusta, Georgia.

After the game was suspended owing to the darkness, Woods who was playing through on the 11th, returned to complete seven holes and defeated the country's golfer Hideki Matsuyama with three clear and six clear of South Korean Im Sung-Jae and Rory Mcllroy.

In April, the American snapped his Masters' trophy-drought that has lasted through 14 years, by winning fifth in Augusta, Georgia for his 15th career major tournament title.

Speaking after the event, the delighted 43-year-old champion, stated that he has no intention to retire from the sport yet and would like to play until he reaches the same age as Sead.

"As far as playing until 52, I hope that's the case. If you would have asked me a few years ago, I would have given you a different answer," he replied when asked about his future in the sport.

Woods was faced with strong contest from Matsuyama who trimmed his lead to four with a four-foot birdie on the 11th but the American had set up a tap-in par on the 11th to keep the Japanese in the trail, who later completed a long-range birdie at the par-four and finish with three behind the champion.

He added, "I know how to play and I was able to do that this week. There was a time if I didn't know if would play again so I am very appreciative."
