Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori International Future Hang In The Balance As Both Are Not Nigeria Coach Plan
Both are Nigerians by native and teammates at Chelsea and have been doing really good both in the domestic and continental games, which have brought up a discussion on where they would prefer for their international career.
in spite of that, they have not been named in the England squad for Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria, neither have they been included in Nigerian national coach Gernot Rohr's plan for the Super Eagles.
Tammy has been strongly linked to his paternal country, Nigeria and even gained the favor of the country's football federation president, Anaji Pinnick, who promised to ensure he makes regular appearance in the national team if he switches interest from England to Nigeria.
Tammy Abraham has scored seven goals this season making him highest scoring English player since the start of the season |
On Tomori's part, he is more likely to favor playing for Nigeria as he was once reported that he hopes to one day play for the Super Eagles since he is qualified by nativity.
Rohr did not deny the fact that they are good to have in any squad, apparently are yet to clarifity on plans for their international career as far as he is concern.
"They are not interested in discussing their international options at the moment and we need to respect that," Rohr to BBC Sport. "
Tomori has made 15 caps for England Under 21 team and Tammy has appeared in frendlies with the Three Lions. Since they are yet to appear in the country's senior team international match, they are still eligible to switch ground on where they want to be committed to.
Rohr added that on Abraham he is quite aware that he might favour England having being assured of making squad list but he is not aware if Tomori will follow in his teammate's stead.
"Tomori is a very good friend of our player Ola Aina ( a former Chelsea player) and he said he does not want to discuss this for now. We have to focus on what we have and not lose focus about what people say all the time," Rohr added.
