Stockholm Open: Denis Shapovalov Wins First Career ATP Title
Denis Shapovalov has emerged as the champion of Stockholm Open after outclassing Filip Krajinovic to clinch his first career ATP title in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
"It's definitely a big step for me [to have won the title]," Denis said on the podium. "I struggled to get past the semi-final. So, to live to my first title here in Stockholm is incredible for me and I hope to see you again next year."
The Canadian served 16 aces and saved the only breakpoint advantage faced against Krajinovic on his ATP final debut with a clean sheet through the tournament without dropping a set.
Just as the event champion, Krajinovic was aiming for his first ATP title on his first final appearance but was well dominated over by the 20-year-old who won 94 percent of his first-serve point.
Denis will pocket €109,590 in prize money for the victory with 250 ATP Ranking points while the Serbian player will get 150 ATP points plus €105,255 in prize money.
