Simone Biles Wins 23rd Medal To Equal Record Set By Vitaly Scherbo


Simone Biles had a disappointing performance in women's uneven bars but delivered superbly to win in women's vault and extended her gold-medal run to 17.

Biles could have settled herself as the all-time most world medal winner in uneven bars in which she finished fifth but tied with the previous record set by Vitaly Scherbo by winning her 23rd.


The 22-year-old defended her title in vault by scoring 15.399 points followed by her compatriot Jade Carey with 14.883 points and Great Britain's Ellie Downie picked up 14.816 points.

In the uneven bar, she failed to follow in her previous stead and finished fifth whilst Belgian Nina Derweal who picked up 15.233 points and Great Britain's Becky Downie who won the silver medal on 15 points.
