Shanghai Masters: Daniil Medvedev Beats Stefanos Tsitsipas For Sixth Successive Final Appearance
Daniil Medvedev extended unbeaten run against Stefanos Tsitsipas to fifth win streak in ATP FedEx series to reach his sixth consecutive ATP finals of the season.
On their second meetings after Monaco Open final, Medvedev battled strongly against the Greek player to come atop in straight sets, 7-6(5), 7-5 in a semi-final that lasted for an hour and 36 minutes.
Unlike Novak Djokovic, Daniil engaged the use of forehand groundstrokes to keep Tsitsipas who forced a tiebreak and had taken a 4-3 before the Russian broke back and claimed a set point with a forehand shot the Greek man hit wide on return.

"To be honest...I actually felt the most comfortable among the other times that I played against him. I don't know if I'm going to be able to beat him the next time," Daniil said in admission to making it past Tsitsipas.
The Russian saved four in five breakpoints faced against Tsitsipas, who rallied from two games down in the decider to level up 5/5 but got overpowered and lost subsequent games as the 23-year-old wrapped it up with a forehand volley.
They both have secured a slot for the ATP Nitto Finals in London at the O2 Arena but Medvedev has the most final appearance this season with nine in tour-level final, in his trail is Stefanos Tsitispas with five in ties with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Dominic Thiem.
In the final, Medvedev will face German ace Alexander Zverev who claimed straight-sets, 6-3, 6-4 win over Matto Berrettini for his second final appearance of the season.
Zverev, in a thrilling semi-final match, knocked out two-time champion Roger Federer in three sets, 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-3 on Friday - both Federer and Novak Djokovic were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
