Roger Federer Withdraws From Rolex Paris Masters


Roger Federer will not be participating in the ongoing Rolex Paris Masters following a statement released stating that he would prefer to "spare himself" from the tournament

Nevertheless, the Swiss will be featuring at the ATP World Tour Finals which will commence in a fortnight at the O2 Arena in London, United Kingdom. He holds the record for the biggest title won at the tournament with 6-in-6 final appearances winning streak. He is followed by world no. 2 Novak Djokovic with five titles.

"I am extremely disappointed to have to withdraw from the Rolex Paris Masters," the 38-year-old said in a statement released on Monday.

He completed his campaign for a record-setting tenth Swiss Indoors title on Sunday defeating Alex De Minaur in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. He finished the tournament with a clean sheet without dropping a set through the rounds. Only that Stan Wawrinka retired from the quarter-final match against him, allowing him to advance to the semi-final without having to play a match.

He went on to say in the statement, "I have to spare myself because I want to play as long as possible on the ATP Tour. I am sorry for my French fans that I will see next year at Roland Garros."
