Premier League: Manchester United Put A Dent On Liverpool's Clean Sheet

Manchester United defiled threats issued by Jurgen Klopp that they would have to wait for another week to improve and held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer had faced huge criticism over United's performance but that may have just cooled down as the team lived up to expectations and nearly made away with the maximum points but a late finish from Adams Allana saved Liverpool from their first defeat.

Before the match, there have been concerns over David de Gea missing the match over a groin injury he sustained from the international break, but that Spaniard defiled his medical condition and made the starting lineup. Anthony Martial also returned from injury and sub for Marcus Rashford with five minutes left to play.

Liverpool were the better side in terms of ball possessions but that would not get them a match win and left stunned to watch Marcus Rashford tap into goal Daniel James' cross following a fast break. Now, their unbeaten run is under threat as they have dropped behind by 1-0.

Sadio Mane responded to the lead and drilled in the equalizer but the VAR ruled it out for having committed a handball offense. Eventually, they got an equalizer from Allana who was left unmarked in the box and tapped in Andy Robertson's cross from left flank.

In the end, it might look like United have not been faring well this season, however, one thing is, they are yet to concede a game to Liverpool in five league matches (W3 D2).

"It's important to get results. That's the only way to grow confidence," Solksjaer said. "As a manager, you want results now - you can't lose four, five, six games on the bounce. We're looking to win as soon as possible."

All hope is not lost for United as there are still plenty of games to play in the season and can still recover to move on the table. They have now moved a place up to be in 13th position whilst Liverpool extended margin with Manchester City by six points.
