Premier League: Liverpool Clinch Victory Over Tottenham With Comeback In Second Half

Liverpool race for the title could have suffered a huge blow had they lost at home to Tottenham, which at the same time could have ended their unbeaten run, fortunately, that did not happen.

Spurs were denied the privilege of ending Reds unbeaten run as Mohamed Salah converted a spot-kick drawn by Sadio Mane to give the side well-deserved maximum points, after winning by 2-1 to retain strong table lead by six points clear Manchester City.

Right from the first minute, Reds had begun to fight to avoid conceding the game after Harry Kane put Spurs ahead with a header to the ball that came off the goal post after Son Heung-min's deflected shot that clipped the bar.

Spurs held the lead until after the break when Henderson smacked in a volley from inside the area to level for Liverpool. With a quarter left to play, Mane drew a penalty from Serge Aurier's rough tackle during a contest for the ball in the box. Salah converted the spot-kick for the winning goal.

Reds dropped the first points in 1-1 draw with Manchester United last weekend but Spurs did not have that opportunity to get a point off the match. They simply dominated the game having most shots (21) with 13 at the target and 15 of those shots were right from inside the box.

"I really liked the way we played against a really tough opponent," Jurgen Klopp said. "At half-time I said this game had only one problem - the scoreline. When Tottenham had the ball their counter-attacks were incredible. We won the game and well deserved it."

Henderson, who scored his first Premier League at Anfield since 2015, said after the match: "After 48 seconds I was thinking it was my fault because I gave the ball away for their goal. Thankfully I managed to get a goal to make up for it."
