Manchester United: Mason Greenwood Extends Contract Until 2023

Teenage striker Mason Greenwood has signed a new contract that runs until 2023 with Manchester United with an option for a year extension.

Greenwood became an integral part of United's frontline on the exit of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to join Italian Serie A side Inter Milan this summer and has scored two goals since his promotion to the senior team.

"Having grown up as a Manchester United fan, playing for the first team is a real dream come true," he said on signed the deal on Friday.

The 18-year-old made a debut appearance in the senior team against Cardiff in May to become the youngest player to feature in a Premier League game. He has since capped nine times for the club, scoring his first goal in 1-0 win over Astana in the Europa League. The second time he scored was against Rochdale in EFL Carabao Cup.

Mason who started his career with the club from the academy, added: "I want to repay the faith that my coaches have shown in me with my performance on the pitch."

United will be hosting table leaders, Liverpool, in their next league game on Sunday. They will play without their no. 1 goalkeeper David de Gea following a groin injury he sustained from Spain's 1-1 draw with Sweden.

Likewise, Paul Pogba is not expected to make the lineup due to injury but Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw are expected to feature in the game as teased by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
