Manchester United: David de Gea And Paul Pogba Ruled Out Of Match Against Liverpool
Pogba has been ruled out for the ankle injury he picked up during an international break and Gea had a groin injury in Spain's 1-1 draw against Sweden in the Euro 2020 qualifiers on Tuesday. He was walked out of the pitch by the medical team and replaced with Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Solksjaer revealed that both players have been ruled out stating that "David needs a scan" and Pogba still has to be rested for his ankle injury.
"I think he'll be out," Solksjaer said of the Spaniard, "It certainly looked like it anyway judging on last night so it's just one of those things."
United have only won two league games in eight played so far. The performance which has landed the team with two points away from the relegation zone has attracted heavy criticism such that it has threatened the job of the Norwegian, who replaced Jose Mourinho last year in December.
"Paul had an injury, he came back, he worked really hard. He came back and played a couple of games," he added. "Maybe needed a few weeks' rest in a boot so hopefully he won't be too long, but he won't make this game. No."
To fill in the gap left off by the Frenchman's absence, Solksjaer teased Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will make the lineup on their return from injury. However, he is not certain if they will be 100 percent fit to last for a full game.
