Lionel Messi Reveals Plan To Leave Barcelona Over Accusation Of Tax Evasion

Lionel Messi has openly reaffirmed what has been known of him that he might potentially end his football career at FC Barcelona but he once desperately wanted out of the club.

The Argentine has oftentimes been asked to try and leave Nou Camp as others like Cristiano Ronaldo have done but all that did not really come to terms with the forward's career plan.

Speaking in an interview Spanish radio station RAC1, the 32-year-old reiterated that he intended to remain with the Catalan side to the end of his career but admitted he contemplated leaving the club in 2013 when he and his father had issues with the Spanish government over tax evasion.

"Sincerely, at that time, I thought about leaving," he revealed. " I had my doors open to many clubs but I never got an official offer because everyone knew I really wanted to stay."

It was not only Messi who had tax evasion case with the Spanish government, likewise was former Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourhino. They were all fined and served suspended prison sentences as allowed in the country's law for sentences less than two years.

"My idea is to stay for many years. I've always thought this was and nothing has changed," he reaffirmed. "It's clear that my idea is to finish my career at Barca."

Messi has the longest appearances at the club after retired teammate Xavi and has the most goals (604) ever recorded at the club he enrolled in its academy at the age of 13.
