Fikayo Tomori Chooses To Commit To England
Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has reportedly chosen to commit his international career to England, hence, he will no longer be available to his native country, Nigeria.
Tomori and his club teammate, Tammy Abraham, have received a call-up from England manager Gareth Southgate for Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
The 21-year-old admitted making a choice amongst three countries he is eligible to play for is tough but a call from England was one he least expected. For that reason, he said: "Once I got the call-up there was no doubt I would commit."
He described the call as a "dream" and went on to say, "Growing up in England and seeing the players playing at Wembley, it was such a good feeling. It's indescribable. I tried to take it in as much as possible, but it was a very proud moment."
Tomori has made 15 caps for England Under-20 team, but he is not only eligible to play for Nigeria or England but also for Canada where he was born. Now that he will be making a professional appearance for England senior team, he will not be available to the other two any longer.
