European Open: Andy Murray Wins Opener For Perfect Start
Andy Murray kicked off title bid campaign for his first since injury spell with straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Belgian player Kimmer Coppajens.
Murray is yet to snap his title drought since undergoing hip resurfacing surgery that has had huge impact on his performance and plummeted his ranking. But things are beginning to take shape for the Scott who reached the quarter-finals of the China Open for his long run in a tournament since his recovery from injury.
Kimmer happened to be the first player Murray will play against in his first career appearance in Antwerp. The 25-year-old tried to push the match into the third set but the former world no. 1 outclassed in the second set tiebreak for his first match win in the tournament.
During the match lasted for an hour and 44 minutes, Murray broke back from 1-3 down and won four straight match points for the lead and the Belgian committed an unforced error to concede the match.
