Euro 2020 Qualifiers: England Thrashed Bulgaria 6-0 Despite Racist Chants From Fans
England defiled racist chants and salutes thrown at them from Bulgarian fans and went ahead to thrashed the hosts by a whopping 6-0 to move atop Group A with 15 points.
Midway the first half, England manager Gareth Southgate and his men had to request to call off the match as the home fans continued to rant and make racist salutes to his team. However, the English team was called back in but Bulgaria will have themselves to blame as they were seriously wiped and left humbled.
Unlike their previous match which they lost 2-1 to the Czech Republic, England had before the interruptions, led by 2-0 with an opening goal from Marcus Rashford in the 7th minutes and a doubler from Ross Barkley in the 20th minutes.
Barkey made it a third before the half time with a header from Kieran Trippier and Manchester City's Raheen Sterling had the hosts drowned with the fourth goal on the brink of half time.
After the break, the hosts could only concede more goals with Sterling scoring the fifth and Harry Kane finished off the scoring with the sixth goal with five minutes left to play.
"Nobody should have t experience what our players did. We followed the protocol," Southgate said with a recall to the acceptable rants from Bulgaria. "We gave two messages - one that our football did the talking and two, we stopped the game twice."
England is already in a comfortable lead with three points adrift their closest rivals the Czech and will play the remainders of the qualifiers against Montenegro and Kosovo.
