Euro 2020 Qualifiers: Cristiano Ronaldo Nets 700th Career Goal In Portugal's Defeat To Ukraine


Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty to seal a career milestone of 700th goal in Portugal's defeat 2-1 to Ukraine in the Euro 2020 qualifier on Monday.

The home victory finally saw Ukraine through the qualifiers for the Euro 2020 finals as they finished atop Group B with 19 points but still, it will be a memorable match for the Juventus striker in spite of the loss.

Ukraine secured a 2-0 lead from the first half with the opener from Roman Yaremchuk, tapping the ball from close range following a corner in 6th minutes. Andriy Yarmolenko doubled the lead smacking in Vitaliy Mykolenko's cross in the 27th minutes.

The hosts would have made away without conceding a but Tara's Stepanenko committed a handball in the box for a red card and Ronaldo finished off the spot kick for his 700th goal since his career began.

Portugal - who are the defending champions - trailed Ukraine with 11 points and will have to win their next match against Lithuania to finish in second place in Group B.
