Elton John Finds Fault With Lion King Remake
Lion King was a massive success at the box office, after notching at #1 spot on the chart on its opening weekend with $191million, it proceeded to reach and past the billion-dollar milestone having a global cume of $1.649b.
Despite this remarkable performance from the iconic computer adaptation live-action animation, Elton John, who wrote a song for the film yet believes it is a massive "disappointment" as far as he is concerned.
Well, in what terms could he have meant? The iconic pop singer is not happy with the songs he wrote for the film because they fell short of his expectations. Speaking in an interview with British GQ on his new memoir, John expressed his anguish saying, "They messed the music up".
"Music was so much a part of the original and the music in the current film didn't have the same impact. The magic and joy were lost. I wish I'd been invited to the party more, but the creative vision for the film and its music was different this time around."
The Brit who wrote "Never Too Late" for the animated film also lamented the song's inability to make strong impact on the chart the film's songs would.
He added, saying: "The soundtrack hasn't had nearly the same impact in the chart that it had 25 years ago when it was the bestselling album of the year. The new soundtrack fell out of the chart so quickly, despite the massive box-office success."
