Conor McGregor Set To Return To UFC In January

Conor McGregor has announced he will be returning to UFC in next year in January - just seven months after he announced his retirement from Mixed Martia Art.

The 31-year-old lost reign as the UFC Lightweight Championship belt holder, after losing the fight against Russian fighter, Khabib Nurmagomedov, last year in October. Following that defeat, the Irish fighter quit the sport in March.

Announcing his return on Thursday, McGregor talked about his burning passion to fight in the octagon once again and revealed the date is already set for his return and there is no going back on that.

"This date is agreed. I don't care who will be my opponent," he said at the press conference. "It takes 66 days to form a habit. Now I go to bed early and get up early.

McGregor confirmed his interest to take on his Russian counterpart Nurmagomedov on his return in a bid to reclaim the belt lost to him last year, describing their rematch as one that is "inevitable" and definitely will hold.

"We know that. This is known. We know what belt I am seeking here in Mother Russia," the Irishman said. "The people of Russia deserve this inevitable rematch to take place here in Moscow, and it will happen."

Despite his interest in staging the fight against Nurmagomedov in Russia, McGregor revealed the venue might not be in that country but will happen in the United States where he currently resides.

He added: "So I would like to announce the return of 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor will take place on January 18 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada."

McGregor has just come out of a six-month ban from the sport plus £38,000 fine following a brawl that broke out between his gang of fighters and their UFC rivals last year at a UFC press conference held in Brooklyn, New York.
