Champions League: Mo Salah's Goal Gives Liverpool Victory Over Red Bull Salzburg
Liverpool nearly had victory slid off their reach as Red Bull Salzburg rallied to level but an effort from Mohamed Salah restored the victory to the side.
After a first half that went in favor of the English side, Salzburg stage comeback from three goals deficits to level the scoreboard on an hour of play. Unfortunately, that did last longer than nine minutes before Liverpool regained the lead to win their first game after a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Napoli in the opener.
Sadio Mane gave Reds the much-needed lead with an opening goal early into the match and Andrew Robertson finished a cross from Trent Alexandre-Arnold to double the lead.
Salah had tapped in the third goal before Salzburg got revamped and got a goal from Hwang Hee-chan who brilliantly take out Virgil van Dijk before striking the ball in.
The Austrian side began to pressurize Liverpool and that paid off with Takumi Minamino volleyed in a cross for the second goal before Erling Braut Haaland tapped in the leveler in 60th minutes.
Whilst it seemed the game was going to seal in a draw, Salah finished off a header from Roberto Firmino to give Liverpool the well-deserved victory
Liverpool remained unbeaten in 12 successive home games and the three goals scored by Salzburg tallied with that of previous teams Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid scored at Anfield, but they all result into victory except that of the Austrians.
Reds are now second in Group E behind Napoli who lead with four points after playing goalless draw against Genk in their second match on Wednesday.
