Champions League: Liverpool Claim Big Win Over KRK Genk With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Netting A Brace

KRK Genk conceded a massive 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scoring twice but Reds are yet in the trail behind Napoli, who leads them in Group E by just a point.

Oxlade-Chamberlain spent nearly all the 2018/19 on injury spell but has proven to be in top form on his return from a knee injury with the defending champions. In two minutes, the England international had opened the scoring and doubled it by finishing a through pass from Roberto Firmino on return break.

Sadio Mane and Mo Salah added a goal to keep the team in safety but Genks later go a consolation goal Stephen Odey with two minutes left to play. The Belgian side is bottom of the table with a point and it is obvious that their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages are really slim if not impossible.

However, goals scored by Liverpool brought their scoring in the Champions League to a total of 200 and that made the club fourth in England to reach the feat after Chelsea (269), Arsenal (281) and Manchester United (373).

The next fixture for Reds will be in the Premier League against Tottenham and Jurgen Klopp in his postmatch interview was pleased with his team's performance. He said, "We've just had two away games that were both difficult for different reasons. I don't know where we are now but I know where we need to be on Sunday."
