Ballon d'Or: Virgin van Dijk, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo On Shortlist As Neymar And Luka Modric Are Missing
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk may miss out on winning this year's best Fifa Football Awards to Barcelona's Lionel Messi, but he is back in the list of nominees for 2019 Ballon d'Or.
Amongst 30-man shortlist released on Monday, seven of them are from Liverpool with the likes of Sadio Mane, Allison, Virgil van Dijk, Mohammed Salah and Robert Firmino.
Tottenham's top striker Harry Kane did not make the list but Son Heung-min and Hugo Lloris were shortlisted. Manchester City's key players like Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero did not miss out on the list.
Having said that, the list has strong contenders Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski, Eden Hazard. Meanwhile, Neymar Jr, Angel di Maria, and Luka Modric who won the title last year are missing on the list.
