US Open: Gael Monfils Thrashed Pablo Andujar In Less Than 90 Mins

Pablo Andujar was a no match for Gael Monfils who last reached the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2016 and has set up next round match against Italian player Matteo Berrettini.

The fourth-round match between the Frenchman and his Russian counterpart is just a no time waster, taking a seemingly easy win to reach the quarter-final by winning big in a three-setter, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2.

Besides the third round match against Denis Shapovalov which lasted through five sets, the Rotterdam champion had a clean sheet with other contenders. Delighted Monfils said afterwards, "Everything I did tonight was working. I think my game plan was good. I was moving good. I hit big the ball."

The Frenchman faced no breakpoints against the Russian whilst he served eight aces and converted 6-in-10 breakpoints hitting 34 winners en route the victory for a clean sheet of 4 match wins in head-to-head counts.

He added, "Definitely those stadiums here in New York are of the best for my game and for my personality. I feel very comfortable, so I think that's why I always play great tennis here."

Monfils stands to meet either Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal in last 8 if he made it past the Italian in the quarter-final - in 2016, he was eliminated by Novak Djokovic in the semi-final.
