Taylor Swift Wants To Sue Microsoft For Infringement

One would wonder what could be wrong between Taylor Swift and a tech giant like Microsft that one is threatening to file a lawsuit against the other?

Well, It has nothing to do with who infringed on whose intellectual property in terms of computer software or songs, but has to do with a chatbox which the tech company gave a name the songstress has already trademarked.

Xiaolce is a chatbox Microsoft developed in 2016, designed to have conversations on social media with teenagers and young adults. What went wrong was that the version was named Tay and that happened to be a name the singer has legally trademarked.

Microsoft president Brad Smith revealed in his oncoming book Tools and Weapons, he was stunned when he received a letter from a legal team that called its attention to consequences of crossing the line with Swift for using Tay as the name for the chatbox.

"The name Tay, as I'm sure you must know, is closely associated with our client," the letter from Swift lawyer stated. Smith also added that the lawyer went to argue that the use of the name Tay "is misleading and can amount to a false representation of both the singer and the device.

However, to resolve the issue without it getting to court, the tech giant quickly withdrew the device from the market and stopped every social media accounts created for the device in the name of Tay because now, their customers are beginning to label the name racist.
