Samson Siasia's Mother Regains Freedom From Kidnappers
Mrs. Ogere Siasia, mother of former Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Samson Siasia has regained her freedom from notorious kidnappers, who held her hostage for ten weeks.
The 76-year-old fell in the hands of the criminal gang alongside two other victims in the southern state of the country, Bayelsa, on July 16 for a ransom that it is unclear if the former Eagles manager has paid or not.
Siasia told BBC Sport that it has been "really tough" to have his mother in the hands of kidnappers but is glad and relieved to have her back. The aged grandmother was released early on Sunday morning.
"I can only thank Nigerians and everyone involved in the safe return of my mother," the 52-year-old said. "She's old and in poor health right now. I pray no one has to go through this emotional trauma."
Meanwhile, that happened to be the second time that the former Eagles player's mother was abducted. In 2015, she was snatched away by gunmen for 12 days before she was released.
