Premier League: Tottenham Lose To Leicester City In Late Comeback
Spurs were meant to have completely drowned Foxes in the second with a doubler from Serge Aurier but VAR found fault in the goal and was ruled out for Son's offside position earlier before the strike.
Just moments after that disappointing ruling from VAR, Foxes responded with an equalizer from Ricardo Pereira's deflected shot and Maddison struck a 22-yard shot to take the lead with less than five minutes remaining to play.
Spurs had moved up in the scoring with an effortful finish from Harry Kane, stumbling past three defenders from Son Heung-min's pass from the edge of the box before sliding to latch on the ball through to the goal.
James Maddison strikes a 25-yard shot for Leicester winning goal against Tottenham. The goal will be his first goal since April against Huddersfield |
The game was fairly dominated by Spurs but was faced with a strong fighting spirit from the hosts which kept the pressure on their opponents coming through the flanks.
Foxes effectively held off Spurs in the defence but aside from that, their game plan worked out well around English attacking midfielder despite James Vardy's finding it hard to penetrate Spurs' defence. In another perspective, had the VAR ruling favoured Spurs, that could have been a sinker for Foxes.
Another side to the game was, the electronics device had ruled against a should-be opening goal for Foxes scored by Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
