Premier League: Chelsea Beat Brighton Albion For Ninth Successive Victory

Frank Lampard has recorded is first home league match win with Chelsea in a 2-0 victory over Brighton, which happened to be the club's ninth consecutive defeat to Blues.

The visitors barely could find a shot at the target throughout the stretch of the game that, whilst the hosts maintained the pressure on them with Tammy Abraham coming close to putting the side ahead with a header for a goal attempt.

Chelsea did not get a goal until after the break when Mason Mount was tripped by Adam Webster in the box and Jorjinho struck in the penalty as Chelsea led in the 50th minutes following by Willian doubling the lead twenty minutes later.

Blues claimed a big 7-1 win over Grimsby Town in Carabao EFL League Cup on Wednesday after losing 2-1 to Liverpool last week.

Brighton's manager Graham Potter is yet to win a home match in the Premier League since the start of the season. Potter was appointed as Chris Hughton's replacement in May in a four -year deal.

"The only disappointment is we didn't have more goals," said Lampard. "We got a clean sheet as well. It is good for the confidence of everyone. We had a lot of shots in the first half but had weak finishing and a bit of bad luck. "

After playing all previous games in all competitions with a clean sheet, Lampard has undone that with his first clean sheet against Albion at Stanford Bridge.
