Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Admits Mason Greenwood Is One Of Manchester United's 'Best Finishers'
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has some good things to say about his teenage forward Mason Greenwood, who delivered a brilliant finish that gave the team the much-needed victory against FC Astana in the Europa League opener on Thursday.
United could have won the game by a much wider margin but unable to find not the goal, amongst the many chances had was Federico Rodrigues striking a superb 25-yard shot that clipped the goal bar against the Kazakhstan side which had not a single shot at the target.
Speaking after the match, Solksjaer expressed his delight in the 17-year-old's game-saving goal, describing him as one of the team's best finishers and believed he made the right decision to have kept him rather than holding on to Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, both who now plays for Inter Milan.
"For me, it was the right decision," Solksjaer said about the Bradford-born striker who will turn 18 on October 1. "He's going to be important.
The goal was Mason's first for the club and that made him the youngest striker born in the 2000s to have scored for the team and at Old Trafford.
He added, "We always know that in and around the box he's one of the best finishers we've got...We are always in talks with the boys about how we see the future. Mason is one we want to keep with us."
