Nigerian FA Wants Tammy Abraham To Snub England For Super Eagles

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has been in superlative form since the start of the season and has proven to be a liable striker for the club scoring twice in two Premier League games in a row.

That display of competence has gotten the attention of the Nigerian FA, which is considering him as the right choice of a striker that will well fit into the Super Eagles' frontline.

That expectation may have to face some challenges as the player has already played for the Three Lions on two occasions, only that those were not in a competitive match which leaves the African country with possibilities of gaining his interest in the national team.

"We will not relent in our quest for good players to play for the country and win laurels," Nigerian FA President, Amaju Pinnick said in a statement. "We will keep talking to good players of Nigerian descent to play for their fatherland."

Tammy Abraham scored two goals for Chelsea in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday

The 21-year-old is considered to be one that can fill the gap left off in the frontline by Odin Ighalo but the London-born has not given any indications of having interest in making the switch from the Super Eagles. However, Pinnick urged the player to choose his native country where he stands the chance of making regular appearances as against England which already has players to contend for his position.

He added, "We have been told to wait until April 2020, when he hopes to make a final decision on the matter. I told him that he had a better chance of playing regularly for Nigerian than with England which has a galaxy of strikers."

Abraham, a Chelsea academy graduate, made his England debut in a goalless draw in friendliesagainst Germany in 2017, and in just a week after, made his second cap was as a substitute in a goalless draw in another friendlies against  Brazil.
