Mo Farah Wins Sixth Successive Great North Run Title


Mo Farah remains the strongman to beat in half marathon race, with sixth straight Great North Run. He reigns atop as the all-time biggest winner.

The two-time Olympics track and field champion at 5,000m and 10,000m charged forward and beat Ethiopian rival Tamirat Tola to finish the race setting a new personal best in 59 minutes seven seconds.

In the all-time quickest finish at the event, the Briton trailed in third place after Kenyan Wilson Kipsang (59.06s, 2012) and Eritrean Zersenay Tadese (59.05s, 2005) and is the biggest winner from Britain.

"I've really enjoyed it but the past couple of years has been in the middle of marathon preparation. It was good to test myself," said Farah teasing on his preparation for his participation at the Chicago Marathon taking place next month and 2020 Tokyo Marathon in Japan.

In the women's category, London Marathon champion Brigid Kosgei from Kenya took first place in 1:04:28 for a new half marathon world record best.
