Laver Cup: Rafael Nadal Withdraws With Injury
Rafael Nadal has been forced to pull out of the tournament due to inflammation in his hand after playing in both men's singles and doubles.
The Spaniard played his first match against Milos Raonic on Saturday but had to battle through the decider to beat the Canadian in straight sets by 6-3, 6-6(1).
"I've had an amazing time playing at the Laver Cup," said Nadal in a statement, and added: "I'm so disappointed I'm not able to play again today, but I have some inflammation in my hand and I need to rest."
In the double, Stefanos Tsitsipas will now replace Nadal in Team Europe which beat Team World's Nick Krygios/ Jack Sock in straight sets on Saturday - Roger Federer will partner with the Greek player against Team World's John Isner and Jack Sock.
In addition, Austrian player Dominic Thiem will replace the world no. 2 in his match against Australian veteran Nick Krygios in the singles.
