La Liga: Barcelona Lose To Granada In Worst Season Start In 25 Year

Barcelona is turning out to be unlike the team their fans know of as the club is having their worst start to a season in 25 years and lost 2-0 to newly promoted Granada.

Before going into details, it is alright to mention that Lionel Messi did come in as a substitute for Carles Perez in the second half, so was teenage striker Ansu Fati, but neither was able to break the hosts' defence, rather drifted away following a penalty gifted away by Arturo Vilda for a handball in the box.

Barcelona's goal witnessed an opener from Granada very early into the game, with a header from behind by Nigerian central midfielder Ramon Azeez from Ander Herrera's deflected cross inside the area.

Alvaro Vadillo converted the penalty awarded to Granada for Vilda's needless handball in the box and all effort to recover the deficits proved futile with the hosts.

Champions League opener was a bit disappointing for Barcelona, starting off with a goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund and on returning to domestics league, recorded their first loss in five games to improve W2, D2, L2.

Whilst Barcelona dropped to seventh position in the table, Granada rose to the top with 10 points, tying with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid which are in the second and third position respectively.
