Jose Mourinho, Xabi Alonso Line Up As Replacement For Zinedine Zidane
Zinedine Zidane's return to Real Madrid has continued to suffer a huge setback following the team's 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League opener on Tuesday.
The defeat was such an embarrassment that Real had not even a shot at the target while the Ligue 1 side kept threatening their defence, which paid off two goals from Angel di Maria in the first half and a third in the injury time.
In league matches, the Frenchman has not been having it easy either as the team has improved W2D2L0 to be in the third position behind Atletico Madrid and Sevilla, who top on the table with 10 points.
It is understood that the club's president Florentino Perez is fast losing is cool with the team's performance and has lined up a list of potential replacements for Zidane should he need to axe him for the team's performance.
Jose Mourinho, who led the club to win the league title during his three seasons reign (2010-2013), is speculated to be poling in Perez considerations as a suitable replacement. Not only that, the pair are understood still maintain their relationship since the Portuguese left the club to rejoin Chelsea, where he left to be Manchester United manager.
Another in the race for the job is Allegro Massimiliano, who left Juventus after leading the team to win the Italian Serie A for five consecutive times. However, Massimiliano's reason for stepping down was to take a sabbatical having enjoyed a trophy-laden reign at Old Lady.
Xabi Alonso, who currently manage Real Sociedad is also on Perez list for. Even Raul, Real former star player is also in the list.
In retrospect, Zidane had a superlative spell in his first reign that lasted for three seasons, winning three successive Champions League titles and a La Liga for the club before taking a break from management. Now that he is back, his current performance at the club has quickly eclipsed his previous achievements.
