Former 007 Suggests Replacing Daniel Craig With A Woman As Next James Bond
Daniel Craig obviously will be reprising his role as James Bond for the last time in the oncoming instalment "No Time To Die" and since Sony Studios is still on the search for who to take up the cap from Craig, there is a suggestion to cast a woman in the role that is traditionally known for being a male character.
Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan thinks the franchise is due to cast a female character in the role which he for four times starred. He told the Hollywood Reporters that he loved the character but after 40 years men should get out of the way for ladies to get in the lead role.
"I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years," Brosnan to the Reporters. "Get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting."
The 66-year-old seemed to be close because, in the 25th instalment and Craig's final appearance, a woman has been starred in the role in the person of Lashana Lynch. Actually not as Bond but only taking up the code name from the exiting actor in his retirement.
With regards to who will be next Bond, Idris Elba was once rumoured to have been considered for the role, but the Dark Tower dismissed having any interest in starring as the new James Bond. So also was Richard Madden who said he was "very flattered and thankful" to have learned about rumours of being listed for the role
He Brosnan, also talked about the #MeToo movement and the need for the franchise to remain "relevant and significant" in the ever-changing world. However, he maintained that the character "has a certain significance and deep pride" and he is really attached to film for the rest of his life.
Brosnan starred in four James Bond, making his debut in 1995 GoldenEye and three preceding instalments - Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999) and Die Another Day.
