FIBA World Cup: USA Win Big Against Japan
The United States eased past Japan in their fifth group stage match with Bostic Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown leading the standouts with 20 points, 7 rebounds and an assist in the absence of their star player and NBA All-Stars MVP Giannis Antetokoumpo.
The Japanese team was no match for team USA which dominated offensive through the stretch of the game for a 98-45 blowout win and a clean run through the first group stage match. Kemba Walker of Celtics also helped out in the offensive notching up 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Whilst five players from Team USA put up double-digit scoring points, Japan had just Baba Yudai who followed in second place behind Brown in standouts with 18 points. The Asian side remained winless in all five games played at this stage and technically have failed to qualified for the second group stage matches.
Team USA opened the campaign for their third consecutive World Cup title with a massive blowout win against Panama (111-80) but that has been upset by the margin they defeated Japan on Thursday.
