FIBA World Cup: Spain Beats Argentina To Win Title
Despite Gabriel Deck putting up huge scoring of 24 points, right from the jump, Argentina trailed the two-time champions through to the buzzer with huge contributions from point guard Rubio Ricky and Marl Gasol, both who led the team through to win big against Argentina by 95-75.
Spain was all out for the offensive and all attempt from Argentina to catch up proved futile as the two-time champions raced on and maintained a double-figure lead in both halves with Ricky, a former Phoenix Suns player, picking up 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists to lead the side to victory.
In the decider, Spain saw the lead trimmed down but Spain pushed back and Rubio dropped in a three-point shot with 1:30 seconds left to keep the team in the 20-point lead margin.
On the stats, six Spaniards ended the game with double-figure points with Rubio followed in the standouts by Sergio Llull with 15 points and two assists while Rudy Fernandez put up a double-double of 11 points, ten rebounds and three assists.
In the wake of the final, both Gasol and Ricky were amongst five players honoured with "All Five Star" medals of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Tournament.
