EFL Carabao Cup: Manchester United Squeeze Past Rochdale In Penalties To Reach Fourth Round
Manchester United managed to squeeze through against Rochdale after a 1-1 draw that led to winning penalty shootouts by 5-3 to progress to the Fourth Round of the EFL Carabao Cup.
Just as United wasted glaring scoring chances, so was their opponents who came an inch to get a goal but was denied entry by Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Paul Pogba did have a chance for a goal from a header in close range but the ball went just inches higher to go out of touch.
United's teenager, Mason Greenwood, later put the side in the lead in the 68th minutes but Rochdale's 16-year-old defender, Luke Matheson, slammed in an equalizer in 76th minutes.
The League One side would eventually be removed by their Premier League seniors when Kimmy Koehane missed his penalty that resulted in the side exit from the competition.
