Dimitar Berbatov Announces Retirement From Football


Former Manchester forward Dimitar Berbatov has announced his retirement from the sport he debuted 21 years ago at Bulgarian domestic league side CSKA Sofia.

Berbatov announced the retirement in an Instagram update on Thursday, he wrote: "Someone told me I need to say something and seeing that people were asking me, especially back home, I need to give a farewell message."

The 38-year-old actually played his last professional football in Indian with Kerala Blasters, where he made nine appearances and scored just one goal in a season-long spell (2017-18). He has since been without a club after leaving the club.

He added in the update: "My last game was more than one year ago, so I think its the right time now to stop, and it's long overdue."

During the Bulgarian spell at Manchester United, he won the Premier League twice with the team under Sir Alex Ferguson.
