David de Gea Extends Contract With Manchester United
David de Gea will be spending a lot more years at Manchester United after signing a new contract with the club that will run until 2023 with an option for a year extension.
Speaking about the signing, United manager Ole Solksjaer Gunnar, expressed his delight at keeping the 28-year-old at the club for more years which vital to sustaining the team's defence.
"I am delighted that David has committed his long-term future to the club," Solksjaer said. "David is a fantastic person and his outstanding quality provides the perfect base to our defence."
The new contract reportedly makes the Spaniard the world's highest-paid goalkeeper with wages that ranges between £350,000 and £375,000 per week. That is not to mention that United also has in the team the highest-paid centre-back in the person of Harry Maguire.
Signed to the club from Atletic Madrid under Sir Alex Ferguson in 2011, the Spaniard has won with the club seven silverwares including UEFA Europa League, Premier League and FA Cup.
Since his arrival at the club, he has made 367 appearances, a mileage he admitted in his statement he never envisioned and now that he has committed more year to the club, he said: "All I want is to help this team achieve what I believe we can and win trophies again, together."
