Champions League: Hector Herrara's Late Goal Denies Juventus Victory Over Atletico Madrid


Atletico Madrid fought back from two goals down at home in CL opener against Juventus and levelled scoring with a late goal from Hector Herrara.

The Italian effective threatened their hosts before former Chelsea Juan Cuadrado smashed a curling left-footed from inside the area for the opening goal after they had played a goalless first half.

Meanwhile, the Italians played a man down in the last four minutes as Aaron Ramsey was red-carded on his Champions League defeat for the club. 

Juve went two goals lead when Lodi dos Santos picked up Blaise Matuidi with a cross from the left flank of the box and smashed a header on the ball into the net. At this time, the Italians secured a guaranteed lead that would not last longer than five minutes.

Soon after the drift, Ath. Madrid responded with a header from Stefan Savic, who received a headed pass from Jose Gimenez from inside the area. Juve was finally denied the victory on the brink of full time when Hector headed in a cross from Kieran Trippier to level the scoring.

Since Lokomotiv Moscow defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 at home in Germany, the Russian side takes the lead in Group D and Juventus are second whilst Atl. Madrid followed in the third position.
