Best Fifa Football Awards: Virgil van Dijk Makes Final List Alongside Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo

Virgil van Dijk has been named amongst finalists of the Fifa Football Awards which includes Portuguese' forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Argentine ace Lionel Messi. England's defender Lucy Brown was named the women's category finalists.

Just last week, the Dutchman was named the winner of the Uefa Men's Player of the Year Award. He won the most vote in a contest with Ronaldo and Messi, both who have won the prize twice and three-time respectively.

Dijk's was instrumental to Liverpool winning the Champion League for the first time since 2004/05 and helped his team through to finish as runners-up for 2018/19 season. That huge contribution earned him the PFA Players of the Year award before he was named the winner of Uefa men's prize.

Neither Ronaldo nor Messi won any continental competition last season but both helped their team to win their domestic leagues in 2018/19 season - Juventus won Italian Series A and Barcelona won Spanish La Liga.
