Barcelona To Pay €300 In Fine For Deal Signed With Antonio Griezmann
Spain Football Federation (RFEF) has found Barcelona guilty of tampering with the five-year contract signed with Antonio Griezmann on his move to the club from Atletico Madrid this summer and they have bagged a fine of €300 (£265) for the offence.
Atletico alleged that a deal had already been completed with the player' ahead of the close of the season when the Frenchman's buy-clause was set for €200million (£180m) before it was later reduced to €120m (£108m) on July 1.
"Atletico de Madrid believes that the amount deposited is insufficient to meet [Griezmann's] buy-out clause," the club argued in a statement released affirming its certainty that a deal had been agreed on before his release clause was reduced.
The club went on to say, "that is why the club has already started the procedures it considers appropriate for the defence of its legitimate rights and interests."
Griezmann made a debut appearance in the team's 1-0 win over Athletico Bilbao and had since scored three goals in six appearances made thus far.
